How Korean syllable blocks work

Korean is written in syllable blocks: each block is one syllable, a consonant plus a vowel, sometimes with a final consonant. Examples: 가 = ㄱ + ㅏ ("ga"); 한 = ㅎ + ㅏ + ㄴ ("han"); 국 = ㄱ + ㅜ + ㄱ ("guk").
